Voices That Challenge

"Be the change you wish to see in the world," Mahatma Gandhi's famous quote speaks clearly of the need to create a world in which all lives are honored and treated with dignity and justice. The VOICES That Challenge chapter located on the Outer Banks is a group of middle school age and up youth creating a community that strives to educate and bring about social change. As a group, their voices become one to motivate their peers to follow a path of non violence and justice. VOICES is structured so that young people play a huge role in the decision making process. All activities are organized and led by the youth under the guidance of one or more adults. VOICES encourages all faith traditions and backgrounds to participate and is created to be open and welcoming. Diversity is desired. Justice is served only when all voices are honored and respected. VOICES honors the inner self of all participants and strives to bring youth together to share and learn in unity. During the month of May, VOICES, in conjunction with other local organizations will host a Cultural Sensitivity Workshop as well as Organic Gardening Workshop for the community.Learn more by contacting Teresa Stanley orMichel Sanchez at malameddin@aol.com
